Topic guide
Customs, FX & Investment
Import/export, make FX payments and structure investment.
Map the transaction and authorities
An import, an overseas service payment, a foreign loan and an equity investment follow different routes. Record the parties, purpose, currency and documents first. Separate customs, foreign-exchange, tax and investment approvals so that one approval is not mistaken for completion of every obligation.
Use transaction-date references
Match the tariff or circular to the relevant transaction date and category. Keep bank, customs and approval records linked to the contract and accounting entries. For a change, extension or repatriation, use the procedure for that stage of the transaction.
