Official Government and Regulatory Portals

Choose the authority responsible for the actual task. The tax, company, employment, reporting, customs and sector systems have different functions. An account or registration with one authority does not establish completion of an obligation with another.

1. Start with the responsible authority

For tax, use IRD’s official documents and taxpayer services. For company administration, use OCR and CAMIS. For social security, choose the relevant SSF service and scheme. Standards and professional sources have their own roles in reporting and assurance.

Use the source directory to locate the original authority link. If a legacy URL has changed, preserve the earlier reference internally and record the replacement; do not direct a reader to an unrelated portal merely because it opens.

2. Check identity and task before entry

Confirm the address and authority, taxpayer or entity identifier, service and period. Prepare the underlying records before submitting. A return, payment, registration search and clearance check are distinct operations even where they appear on the same system.

Never publish passwords, recovery codes, identity documents or client records in a public source library. A general website guide should describe the task without requiring a reader to disclose credentials to the firm’s resource page.

3. Retain the completion evidence

Preserve the submitted data, acknowledgement, payment voucher and final approval or official record for the particular task. A successful login or an uploaded document is not proof that the authority accepted the action. Resolve missing or inconsistent postings through the relevant official procedure.

Where access or a download fails, record the problem and use an alternative official source where available. Do not turn a temporary retrieval failure into a claim that a legal requirement no longer applies.

4. Open the authority directory
